This is the Jazz Fish:

He's the main character in the book Jazz Fish Zen: Adventures in Mamboland by Howie Green. Steph made me buy my own copy in the summer of '96 because I kept wanting to borrow hers. The book is in fact all that. The Fish is on a journey through Mamboland trying to find his place in the world n'stuff. I highly recommend it. You used to be able to buy it here, but I think Howie Green bought up all the remaining copies. His web site is here. |
This is the JazzFish, circa 1998:

I no longer have the sideburns, and the jacket has gone the way of all flesh (RIP 1990-2002), but other than that it's about right.
My real name's John W Taylor, but to distinguish me from everyone else named John everyone calls me Tucker. I'm an alumnus of The Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, which has the distinction of having a name longer than a) its address or b) its URL. Steph once told me I'm a sucker for a good story, and I guess that's why I keep going to see movies even though ninety percent of them are crap.
Once upon a time I thought you could learn a lot about a person from his musical tastes. In case that's still true, these days I listen to mostly Warren Zevon, John Cale, and David Bowie, with cameo appearances from Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennitt, Gavin Friday, U2, Pink Floyd, and Concrete Blonde.
Reading material is a better guide, but it's still insufficient. Of course. I'll read pretty much anything by Roger Zelazny, Steven Brust, Tom Stoppard, and Tim Powers. Neil Gaiman is de facto on that list as well, I guess. I also read Hellblazer and 100 Bullets (comics); I read Transmetropolitan until it ended a couple months ago.
I play games. Board games, card games, RPGs, computer games... yeah. Games.
I like monkeys.
